A little Paint and Sand...........

So my latest project involves a very old dresser/record player thing. Let me explain...we inherited it from my dad and sybel and since its fate was to be the Bountiful DI, I saved its life and now after a mini makeover it has become a lovely part of our living room. My mother is to blame for my love of taking furniture, painting it and then sanding it off creating the distressed look. Although this piece did not get painted because my dad does not share my love of painting what he thinks is perfectly fine furniture ( i think my childhood oak dresser pushed him over the edge) And even though technically it is now our furniture i decided i would just sand around the already chipped edges. So here are the before and after pics........

before (yes i sanded this on our front porch, i'm sure the neighbors think i'm nuts)

AND AFTER.....

So here are some other things that i have transformed... haha

My next project just happens to be our coffee table which i intend on painting red so be watching for pictures!!! In this final picture i just wanted to show off this adorable this rooster I found today, Hank does not share my love of the rooster ( i'm not sure why i love him because i swore i was never going to be the person who puts roosters in her house but he's cute and this was the perfect spot for him... Whitney, please put a picture of your brother Travis Meidell on this blog. He is awesome and desverves better then the cold pictureless treatment you have given him.

I agree with anonymous. Stop ignoring the need for a little bit of Travis on this blog!

I could have sworn that I posted a few words a little while ago - and now they're gone! I love your rooster and have always wanted to paint and sand - but alas - I don't have the furniture to do so. I always just go buy something new! And then i don't want to do it on something new....you get it!
