I'll be the first to admit i'm a t-shirt and jeans kinda girl (i seriously think the last time i wore high heels was at my brothers wedding- two years ago) i just didn't quite realized how much of a t-shirt girl i was until my recent purging of our house. Every t-shirt i have is associated with a memory, a place, a person, an event etc etc. And I just couldn't bring myself to part with all my memories so atlas my latest project the t-shirt quilt. And the first quilt is 30 of my favorite t-shirts from all the years i played soccer. I love that some are incredibly faded, some are almost paper thin and most have mud stains and holes. Every single one of them hold a memory in my mind. Memories associated with some wonderful girls and some really fun times. All memories i cherish- and what better way to remember than a giant warm blanket.

oh and while making my blanket i can across this wonderful lobster material at the fabric store. And if any of you were faithful friends followers you would recognize the " see he's her lobster" quote- and since that was one of my favorite lines- mr. dog did in fact "need" a new lobster blanket.

I love it! I have thought about doing something like this with all of my soccer t-shirts, but am completely stumped because I have no idea how to sew. So, the t-shirts are sitting in storage just waiting to see the light again. Now that I think about it though, I have an amazing sister in law who makes amazing quilts... Hmmm.

Great Job!

oh my gosh. i LOVE this! i felt really bad giving most of mine to DI or somewhere.. totally wish i would have kept them now. good times. when soccer was literally all we had to worry about. remember in jr high you would draw "go raiders!" on our hands and we would try and wear our jackets on game days... until the administration thought it we were creating a gang or something. whatever, they wish they were a part of our team! :)

Very cool Whit. It's fun to see how many shirts I recognize.

Oh my goodness, this is such a wonderful idea! Nice job Whit!! Man, we had some good times down at the summer games and the panther cup and of course all the mayor's cups we were in! I've kept most of mine too. I can't bear to part with them!

Love, love, love it!!! Unfortunately I'm a total purger and don't have very many old soccer shirts left... :( However, my hubby has one that his mom made him and my oldest boy has now claimed it's his because he loves it so much...he's even asked if his grandma could make him one with all his shirts (yep, he's only played on 1 team so far :)
