home.

warning: this post contains more photos than you all probably wish to see. but i simply could not help myself. once i started uploading i kept finding more and more than desperately needed to be seen. all too beautiful not to share.

note the sign: "for your own personal safety" remember this
awww.. the colors. how i love fall. i wish i could live in the season of fall forever.
mt. washburn on dunraven pass. a personal favorite. toyed with the idea of naming a child/dog dunraven. yep! i know. its not exactly normal. while wandering around the top of mt. washburn i happened upon this sign. never noticed it before- it must be new this year. guess there have been some problems. consider me warned.
the great lamar valley. and yes i do mean great. while having lunch in one of the many pullouts along the valley my personal driver fell asleep (can't blame the guy- he'd been shuttling me around for hours) and i was able to enjoy so quiet moments scanning the mountains for bears, wolves etc. it was heaven. and the only animal i found. the not so great pronghorn. but i did get a chance to use my bigger camera lens. still not big enough but bigger than ordinary.
read me.
he must have not gotten the memo.
is it bad to secretly hope he gets gored to teach him a lesson. because i've never thought that.
the lake lodge. Mmmm dinner. can still taste the mashed potatoes.
looking for love? he's lookin. sometimes i make my husband trek off trail. collect stickers in his socks. climb on abnormal shaped rocks. calm my fears about being eaten by bears hiding in the brush. set up a tripod on uneven ground. all in the name of a photo. but that's only sometimes.

more at sheep eater cliffs. named for the Indians who must have eaten sheep. i'll pass. after the pouring rain blurred my view out the window (grrr) it gave me this. it was forgiven.
the buffalo hunter himself. thome loves buffalo. not cows. not horses. this guy cannot be fooled. just buffalo. well he did love buffalo until as we were passing through a buffalo jam and he was observing them from the security half way rolled down window- one turned saw him and blew out a big angry snort! never seen a border collie jump that high. probably never will again. me and loo.

after trying to talk hank into moving to yellowstone and becoming part of the wolf biology team failed i resorted to taking more pictures of trees.
smile. again and again.
reaching for me. yes me. lucky i am.
here comes the rain. to obstruct my view. again.

the world traveler. sitting in front of the yellowstone archway. this boy should have a calender. all the girls would want one. my personal driver. to whom i owe great thanks. i could not enjoy yellowstone behind the wheel. my attention is elsewhere. yellowstone. i heart you. i miss you already. i'll be home again. soon.

K YOU GUYS ARE SO DANG CUTE. I AM SO JEALOUS. WE HAVE NOT BEEN FOR TWO YEARS. EVERYONE SEEMS TO LIKE TO GO TO THE CABIN MORE NOW THAN YELLOWSTONE CRAZY HUH! I THINK BOOKS AND I MAY HAVE TO RUN AWAY THERE ONE OF THESE NEXT WEEKENDS!

I am SO glad that you finally went - and totally wish that we could have gone with you! Soon - we need to do something. THis is getting ridiculous. I see Hank and Trav more at the Little America than I do you! That should be changed!

Whit, Yellowstone is absolutley beautiful! I have been there 18 times. We used to go every year because my grandparents were campground hosts for the summer. But last year my grandpa died and my grandma has not wanted to go back, and I don't blame her. It was unexpected for him to pass away so it's just too hard right now. But someday I would love to go back and visit!
Anyway, I hope you guys are doing great. We are having fun, but still trying to get used to living with each other. We are having fondue night on October 18th at 7:30 pm and you and Hank are invited. It should be a lot of fun. Kate is getting home in December! When I find out more, I will let you know.
Your blog is so cute! I will have to learn how to make mine cute like yours!
